The change in divorce law which has been discussed for decades will finally happen on 6 April 2022. The move away from having to allege fault such as unreasonable behaviour or adultery has been largely welcomed. Hopefully, this will lead to less acrimony and a better experience for both parties.
Mike Follis, Head of Family Law at Davies and Partners has announced that with effect from 6 April 2022 Davies and Partners will charge a fixed fee for clients using the new procedure. The fixed fee will be £500 including VAT plus the Court fee which is currently £593.
This will apply to straightforward cases. Mike Follis said “We appreciate that it is possible for clients to apply for their divorce themselves. However, there are many people who wish to have proper advice and be guided through the process. I think our fixed fee system gives certainty and transparency. Davies and Partners have the expertise to advise clients as to whether they may need additional help concerning financial or children issues which may not be addressed if a client tries to deal with matters themselves.”
