Emma is passionate about helping injured people and their families and hugely knowledgeable about the difficulties they can face. Emma is very practical and has a “can do” approach to problem solving. Emma knows the importance of listening to clients and those close to them in order to gain a full understanding of their affairs, wishes and needs. When litigation is ongoing, Emma is able to draw on her depth and breadth of experience as a litigator to support clients and their families through what can be a daunting process for them.
Emma is experienced in all aspects of preparing and drafting applications to the Court of Protection including applications to extend the authority of the Deputy, applications for Statutory Wills and applications relating to gifts and property held abroad. Emma has an in-depth knowledge of Statutory Funding issues including CHC and Local Authority Funding, s.117 Aftercare Funding and Welfare Benefits entitlement.
She regularly undertakes work on behalf of lay and professional Deputies and is sought after as a Deputy in her own right.
Emma has been closely involved in a number of high value property purchase and adaptation projects for her clients, both in a litigation and Deputyship context. There is usually a need to involve multiple parties including legal, architectural, therapeutic and case management experts. These projects are life changing for clients and their loved ones, and hugely rewarding for those involved in the project. This is a particular area of expertise and interest.
Emma is organised and has a keen eye for detail as well as being approachable, calm and compassionate.
